Britain's Prince Philip to undergo exploratory surgery

Britain's Prince Philip was admitted to hospital for exploratory surgery on his abdomen, Buckingham Palace said Thursday, dpa reported.

The 91-year-old husband of Queen Elizabeth II was expected to be a patient at the London Clinic for up to two weeks, it said.

Philip has been hospitalized three other times recently: twice in the summer of 2012 for a recurring bladder infection and over the 2011 Christmas and New Year's holidays for a procedure to clear a blocked artery.
