North Korea does not yet have nuclear missile capability, the White House said Friday, a day after details of a US intelligence report indicating that Pyongyang did possess deployable nuclear warheads was released, dpa reported.
"North Korea has not demonstrated the capability to deploy a nuclear armed missile," White House spokesman Jay Carney said as top US intelligence officials sought to downplay a report made public during a congressional hearing Thursday.
He stressed that while Pyongyang continues to seek to develop such weapons, it does not have the ability to attach a nuclear warhead to a missile and fire it, he said.
The US continues to monitor North Korea's nuclear programme and call on it to honour its international obligation, Carney said.
