Syria attacks air defense facilities on border with Turkey

The Syrian army is bombing its own missile defense facilities along the border with Turkey to prevent their transfer to the opposition, Anadolu agency said on Monday.

The bombing is on the border with the Turkish province of Hatay.

In Syria, more than two years of government forces clashed with the armed opposition. According to the UN, the number of victims of the conflict in Syria is 30 thousand people, more than 230,000 refugees, about three million people in need of humanitarian assistance. Syrian officials have said that they are opposed to well-armed militants.

Anti-government protests have continued in Syria for a year and half.
