Turkey starts large-scale operation against PKK militants

Large-scale military operation against militants of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party began in the Turkish province of Bingol, the Haberturk newspaper reported.

Some 2,500 servicemen participate in the operation, as well as helicopters and armored vehicles are involved.

The conflict between Turkey and the PKK has lasted for over 25 years. The PKK is recognised as a terrorist organisation by both the UN and the EU.
