'Iran ready to assist in Afghanistan's restoration'

Iran is ready to help in Afghanistan's restoration after withdrawing foreign troops from the country, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said at the opening of the jubilee session and IV meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the CICA member-states in Astana today.

"Iran is also ready to take part in the construction of infrastructure projects in the country," Salehi said.

A jubilee session and IV Meeting of CICA Foreign Ministers have started at the Palace of Independence in Astana today.

The twentieth anniversary of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev's proclaiming the initiative at the UN General Assembly to convene the CICA by will be marked on Oct. 5.

Salehi stressed the relevance and necessity of such organizations, which are aimed at restoring and maintaining stability and confidence in the Asian continent. In his speech, he emphasized that there are many threats and challenges requiring common solutions and measures in the region today.

Speaking about the situation in Syria, the Minister said that it is necessary to hold the negotiations on the peaceful settlement of the situation between the government and the opposition.

Regarding Iran's nuclear program, Salehi said that it is necessary to make a common decision to avoid destructing objects belonging to the peaceful atom.
