New Istanbul to be constructed

 It is planned to establish 1 mln-population New Istanbul inside Istanbul, the Turkish media reported.

Kayasehir, located on the European part of Istanbul, will be the center of new city. Though the final purpose of the project – settlement of 1 mln population here, this process will be realized in stages. In initial stage, only 500.000 people will be placed in the new city, thereafter this number will be raised up to 700.000 and finally to 1 mln.

Environmental and Urban Development Minister Erdogan Bayraktar says the construction of new city will be implemented rapidly. The minister also added that in October of 2012, Istanbul’s districts, which suffered from natural disaster, will be changed. At present, the number of buildings, which are under risk, is being specified.
