Georgia will pay compensation to the victims of disaster according to three categories.

Victims of disaster will be divided into three categories, Prime Minister Vano Merabishvili said at a news briefing on Friday.

He noted that the first category includes those who have lost 100 percent of the harvest; they will be paid 1 300-1 500 lari ($ 1 = 1.64 lari) as compensation. The second category includes those who have lost 70-80 percent of harvest, and they will be paid 800-900 lari. And third category includes those who have lost 50 percent of harvest; they will be paid 300 - 500 lari.

The government carries out work in three stages. The first stage involves the repair of damaged roofs, the second stage - the distribution of pesticides in order to save the crops, and the third - the food package distribution. The package includes butter, flour and sugar.

Merabishvili also said the payments on bank loans taken for agricultural work of farmers affected by the disaster is delayed for the year, and the state will pay the interest during this time.

He added that a list of all the victims, especially those whose homes have suffered will be prepred. "We will help everyone. This process has already begun," the prime minister said.
