22 June 2012 [09:38] - TODAY.AZ
As part of the struggle against illegal immigration the foundation of the Centre for receiving and sending refugees was laid in the Turkish Gaziantepe. The Center is co-financed jointly with the European Investment Bank, TRT reports.

The ceremony was attended by Turkish Minister for EU Affairs Egemen Bagis and EU Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva.

Pointing to the need for joint fight against illegal migration, Bagis addressed the issue of visas applied to citizens of Turkey.

"We expect the European Union to abolish the unjust and illegal visa regime for Turkey," Bagis said.

EU Commissioner Georgieva said that Turkey had previously been a transit country for moving from west to east, and now has become a country with a constantly growing income.
