'Georgia not to face economic collapse'

30 April 2012 [16:59] - TODAY.AZ
The Georgian Foreign Ministry has called 'unreasonable' the statement of the World Congress of Peoples of Georgia, which according to the organisation, in the case of Georgia's withdrawal from all CIS agreements the country will suffer economic collapse.

Georgia remains party to around 30 agreements within the CIS, deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze said at a news briefing on Monday. She noted that the country is no longer a member of the CIS, so participation in these agreements makes no sense.

"Georgia is far from economic collapse and the above mentioned estimate is unfounded, "Kalandadze said.

She added that Georgia has issued a bilateral agreement with some CIS countries.
