'Georgia still has way to go before NATO membership'

24 April 2012 [10:54] - TODAY.AZ
Georgia still has way to go before integration into NATO and the EU, and if it doesn't manage to move along this way, it will be bad both for Georgia and Germany, Deputy Defence Minister of Germany, member of the Bundestag Thomas Kossendey told reporters on Monday.

During his visit Kossendey met with representatives of the Georgian government, opposition and experts. He said "Georgia will have to move along this path without fail, and Germany will help it in this".

"I will bring to Georgia a delegation of the Defence Committee of the Bundestag, so that it would learn what can be used as an experiment. In recent years, we have prepared 2,000 Georgian officers. We will have a shared experience that will unite us even more. Before integration into NATO and the EU Georgia still has a way, we must pass this way. If we do not do that, it will not be good for any of us," Kossendey said.

Deputy Defence Minister of Germany has for the second time come to Georgia with the assistance of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
