Iran says Western countries should observe realities

23 April 2012 [18:18] - TODAY.AZ
Iran's top nuclear negotiator with P5+1 Saeed Jalili said that the result of upcoming talks between Iran and six major powers depends on their true perception about Iran's capacities, Mehr News Agency reported.

During meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Jalili said that the Western countries should observe the realities around development and progresses happening in the region and Iran.

After 15 months suspension, Iran and the permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany (P5+1) held the first round of new nuclear talks in Istanbul on April 14.

The second round of talks will be held in Baghdad on May 23.

The P5+1 spearheaded the diplomatic efforts to persuade Iran to limit its nuclear program, which Iran say is purely peaceful while UN and Western leaders suspect of military purposes.

So far, The UNSC has adopted four rounds of sanctions, inside of the U.S. and the European Union's tightened sanctions imposed to Iran, intended to halt Iran's nuclear program which is suspected to have military dimensions.
