U.S. to assist Georgian families

Ceremony of signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the Gori Municipality and the U.S. Agency for International Development, which will operate within the project of initiatives of new economic opportunities, will be held on Tuesday in the Shavshvebi village in Georgian Gori region.

The U.S. Embassy in Georgia told Trend, the meeting will be attended by Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM) David Robinson and USAID Mission Director Stefan Heykin.

Robinson and Heykin will meet with internally displaced persons and residents of the Shavshvebi village and become familiar with issues associated with the development of local economy.

The project of initiative of new economic opportunities also aims at attracting investments and strengthening market links. It will operate in 10 regions of Georgia and will assist 70,000 families, many of whom are socially disadvantaged.
