Right to wine brands returned to Georgia

26 January 2012 [16:01] - TODAY.AZ
The German Patent Agency gave the patent for three brands of wine registered by the Russian Moscow Wines and Spirits to Georgia, Georgian National Intellectual Property Center Chairman Irakli Gvaladze told journalists on Thursday.

"Yesterday I received official documents that the registration by the Russian company was abolished, and the wines are now owned by Georgia," he said.

Georgia filed a complaint against the company selling "Tsinandali", "Khvanchkara" and "Kindzmarauli" wines in Germany in early October. In 2011, Georgia regained its patent in the U.S. for the supply of Khvanchkara" and "Kindzmarauli", which were also owned by Russian Dozortsev & Sons" Enterprise.
