PACE supports peaceful resolution of conflicts in Georgia

24 January 2012 [14:48] - TODAY.AZ
The new chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Jean-Claude Mignon stands for resolution of conflicts in Georgia through peaceful negotiations. He made this statement at the press conference in Strasbourg.

Mignon said way out of the situation must be found. "We are friends of Georgia, and I want to talk with my Russian friends to see what we can do in light of the current situation," he stressed.

PACE Chairman recalled that during the Georgian-Russian conflict in 2008, the parties agreed to French President's proposals and signed a joint agreement. "We have to respect this agreement and resolutions adopted by the PACE," Mignon said.

He said he has no key solutions to this problem yet, but as soon as they become available, he will present them.
