PACE Chairman of Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights arrives in Azerbaijan

Chairman of the PACE Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights Christos Pourgourides and committee’s member Elsa Papadimitriou arrived in Azerbaijan at the invitation of head of the Azerbaijani delegation to EURONEST Parliamentary Assembly, PACE member Elkhan Suleymanov.

The guests will visit detention and jail facilities, meet with Justice Minister Fikrat Mammadov, Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov and members of Justice Ministry’s public committee.

On September 2, Pourgourides and Papadimitriou will be received by Chief of the Presidential Administration’s Department on work with law-enforcement bodies Fuad Aleskerov, Chairman of State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Hidayet Orujov and meet with the representatives of religious communities in Azerbaijan. The briefing will be held for media representatives at the end of the meetings. The guests will be also received by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
