The Azerbaijani Consulate General in Ekaterinburg is working to strengthen bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Russia, in particular with the Sverdlovsk Oblast, Azerbaijani Consul General in Yekaterinburg Sultan Gasimov said in an interview with the MK-Ural.
"The consulate general's main direction of activity is to address the various problems of Azerbaijani citizens residing in the Sverdlovsk Oblast. The protection of the rights of the citizens and the provision of legal support are our primary goals," Gasimov said.
The Azerbaijani Consulate General in Ekaterinburg opened in May.
Gasimov said certain results have already been achieved thanks to support of the heads of the Sverdlovsk Oblast.
“The Azerbaijani Consulate General with the support of the Sverdlovsk Oblast has created the television show, 'A Path to Azerbaijan.' This show is unique … and describes the political and cultural life of Azerbaijan, while describing our food, traditions, and history, as well as the lives of Russians living in our country," Gasimov said.
The diplomat also stressed that direct flights are carried out between Ekaterinburg and Baku and a branch of the International Bank of Azerbaijan operates in the city.
"And we are very pleased with the Sverdlovsk Oblast's attitude toward us. Thanks to the support of the regional leadership, we are able to do a great deal. And we just started our humanitarian activity. We have many plans ahead," Gasimov said.
