Ali Hasanov: Armenia continues its policy of disrespect... - UPDATE

09 December 2010 [14:36] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan says Armenia shows disrespect for international law.
"Armenia continues its policy of disrespect for the international community and international law in the Nagorno-Karabakh issue," Ali Hasanov, Head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration's Social and Political Department, said today.

He made the statement while commenting on the Armenian parliament's recent adoption of a bill amending the country's law on international treaties in the first reading.

The bill provides for legalizing the legal arrangements between Armenia and the unrecognized entities, one of them - Nagorno-Karabakh, occupied by Armenians.

After the OSCE summit in Astana, the three OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries expressed concern about stalling the Nagorno-Karabakh problem. Of course, Azerbaijan's will had an influence on this, Hasanov said.

President Aliyev has repeatedly stated about Azerbaijan's limited patience.

Armenians' attempts to consider the previously agreed issues testify about the continuation of Armenia's unconstructive position, Hasanov said.

The last actions of this country, including continued creating illegal settlements in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, the attempts of changing the names of historical Azerbaijani toponyms, a shameful act adopted by the Armenian Parliament, which provides for legalizing the legal arrangements with the separatist regimes, testify about Armenian non-constructive policy.

"It should be noted that Armenian non-constructive position led to an impasse in resolving the issue. There is no progress. There is no striving for resolving the problem. Armenia continues conducting the non-constructive position and challenging the OSCE, the UN resolutions and the international community", Hasanov said.

It is hard to predict the results. However, Azerbaijan does not intend to tolerate this situation. It is ready for applying other methods by using all the opportunities given by the international law in case of fruitless negotiations, he said.
