A two-day international conference entitled "Young leaders of the south-eastern Europe for cooperation and security" wrapped up in Istanbul on June 22, according to the Organization of the Islamic Conference Youth Forum.

The conference was organized by the Organization of Islamic Conference Youth Forum, representative office of the "Process for Cooperation and Security in Southeastern Europe” in Turkey and the European Youth Forum I of the European Youth Organization COJEP.
The event aimed to promote the role of youth in strengthening good-neighborly relations between the countries of the Balkan region and ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region. Azerbaijani ambassador to Turkey Zakir Hashimov, OIC Youth Forum Secretary General Elshad Isgadarov and Vice President of Association of International NGOs under the Council of Europe Veysel Filiz made welcoming remarks at the opening ceremony.
They called on young leaders to take an active part in the conference and voiced confidence that the ideas and proposals adopted at the conference will later be implemented successfully. The conference brought together over 100 young leaders from Greece, Croatia, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and other Balkan countries.
Specialists from leading universities and research institutions of the West gave lectures on "Education and Intercultural Dialogue", "Prejudice and Stereotypes: Media and Civil Society," “The growing role of youth in conflict resolution" and Young entrepreneurs - contributing to the decline in unemployment”.
The working session entitled "Growing role of youth in conflict resolution" featured debates on humanitarian catastrophe that occurred in the 20th century. At her speech in this session, National campaign coordinator from Lithuania Eva Lukosevikiute described the work done as part of the “Justice for Khojaly” campaign since 2008.
The conference ended with a final document that entails concrete mechanisms of cooperation of the youth network in the south-eastern Europe that was created this conference.
