A book about Azerbaijan's national leader Heydar Aliyev has been launched in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, according to the Azerbaijani embassy.

The author of the book, “View From Azerbaijan”, is Veeramalla Anjaiah, editor at the Jakarta Post newspaper. Speaking to the presentation ceremony, Anjaiah spoke about Azerbaijan`s history, the country's regional and international prestige, its geopolitical potential, as well as the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The author touched upon the problems Azerbaijan experienced after gaining its independence, saying as a result of “wise and far-sighted policy of great leader Heydar Aliyev the country was rescued from civil war and the threat of losing its sovereignty”.
Andi Bayuni, Editor-in-chief of the Jakarta Post, expressed assurance the book would contribute to developing relations between the two nations. Andri Hadi, Director General for Information and Public Diplomacy at Indonesia`s Foreign Ministry, said relations between Azerbaijan and Indonesia were “rapidly” developing over last years.
Hadi stated the two countries should further expand their cooperation within international organizations. The Director General thanked the Azerbaijani government for its aid to the Indonesian people in an aftermath of a recent strong earthquake.
Ibrahim Hajiyev, Azerbaijan's ambassador in Jakarta, said View From Azerbaijan was the sixth book translated into English and Bahasa Indonesia by the embassy. The ambassador said the book would promote Azerbaijan in the Indonesian society.
The diplomat said President Ilham Aliyev “successfully” continues the political course of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, adding the country “has been making outstanding achievements in all fields of life”.
Hajiyev also praised Azerbaijan's role in the international community. On the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Hajiyev thanked the Indonesian government for supporting Azerbaijan's “fair” position.
