
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov will take part in the 37-th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), to be held in Dushanbe May 18-20, the Foreign Ministry spokesman Elkhan Polukhov said.
The decision to hold the 37-th Session of the OIC Foreign Ministers in Dushanbe was adopted at the 36-th session of the Council in Damascus (Syria) in May 2009.
It is planned to discuss political, economic issues and the fight against international terrorism during the session, to be held in Tajikistan.
The Organization of Islamic Conference was established in September of 1969 at a conference of the presidents and governments of Muslim countries in Rabat (Morocco). Any state can be a member of the OIC, claiming about its belonging to the Islamic world. Currently, there are 57 countries in OIC.
