Embassy of Azerbaijan marks birthday anniversary of Heydar Aliyev in Ankara

Ambassador Zakir Hashimov appeared on the “Yeni Gun” TV show created by the TRT Avaz and Azerbaijan's Public Television and Radio Broadcasting Company to answer questions concerning national leader's lifetime and activity.

The TV broadcast featured a documentary film narrating on national leader Heydar Aliyev's and Zarifa Aliyeva's life. The film was presented by the Azerbaijani embassy. Later the same day, the embassy officials, pupils and teachers of the Heydar Aliyev school, students studying in Ankara visited the Heydar Aliyev Park in Ankara to lay a wreath at the national leader's monument.

Speaking at the commemorative ceremony, ambassador Zakir Hashimov told of Heydar Aliyev`s services to the people of Azerbaijan and Turkish world.

Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov underlined Turkey occupies a big place in the policy of President Ilham Aliyev, worthy successor of Heydar Aliyev's policy. The policy is based on protecting national interests of both countries irrespective of changes in the world, he added.

Addressing the ceremony, national leader Heydar Aliyev's friend, the 9th Turkish President Suleyman Demirel said Heydar Aliyev is a great personality in the Turkish world. According to Demirel, Heydar Aliyev is a world famous politician and today, President Ilham Aliyev worthily continues national leader's policy.

A concert following the official part of the ceremony featured songs performed by Azerbaijani musicians of the Ihsan Dogramaci University. The event was attended by Turkish officials, embassies' officials, students, local media.
