Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan: It's a big historical injustice not to name Baku as "Heroic City"

It’s a big historical injustice not to name Baku as “Heroic City”, Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan Vladimir Dorokhin said.

He said that it is impossible to correct this mistake.

“Because only Soviet Union used to gave “Heroic City” name. And it became impossible after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Now Russia gives name - “City of battle fame” to its cities. President Dmitry Medvedev gave this name to 5-6 cities on the occasion of 65th anniversary of the Victory. But Azerbaijan is a sovereign state and that is why we do not have right to give any name to any city," the ambassador said.
