"Any sane politician like Barack Obama should understand that such issues can not be manipulated,” Azerbaijani political expert Fikrat Sadigov said commenting on U.S. President’s annual 24 April address to the Armenian Diaspora.
"The most important is that U.S. President Barack Obama, evaluating the events in the Ottoman Empire, did not use the term "genocide". Obama did not risk losing such a powerful ally like Turkey.”
“The events of 1915 should be studied by historians, by not politicians and lawmakers who are trying to play with this and to demonstrate their loyalty to the Armenian Diaspora. Obama acted like previous U.S. presidents although there were fears that he may recognize the "Armenian genocide", as he once promised during his speech” the expert added.
“But common sense gained the upper hand. In diplomacy, policital interests go before feelings and emotions. Although, the meaning of this whole thing has been lost. Even if Obama did pronounce "genocide" it doesnt mean that it actually happened", the expert said.
