"The recent statements by various Armenian experts on possibility of resuming full-scale hostilities aim to keep Armenian population prepared for any turn of events, including the beginning of a new stage of military confrontation between Azerbaijan and Armenia,” independent Azerbaijani political expert Uzeyir Jafarov said.
The expert believes these kinds of actions are not some sort of extraordinary character and are explicable since the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh has not ended yet and the Armenian side understand that Azerbaijan will never accept occupation of its territory by Armenia.
"I personally do not foresee launch of full-scale hostilities between Azerbaijan and Armenia in the next couple of years. Only skirmishes are possible. But at the same time, the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which has become "frozen" conflict as a result of Armenia’s unconstructive and arrogant position in peaceful negotiations, contains a risk of a sharp change in the status quo with the most unpredictable and undesirable consequences for the entire region."
Military experts also believe that world powers understand this and they have the capacity to prevent this scenario by persuading Armenia as an aggressor country to respect international law and Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, in other words, to begin to de-occupy the territories of Azerbaijan.
The Armenian press has frequently reported of resumption of hostilities in the region of Nagorno-Karabakh. Some Armenian experts especially emphasize that Azerbaijan will soon start fighting to liberate its occupied territories.
