23 April 2010 [16:56] - TODAY.AZ
Ankara is grateful to Azerbaijan for its support to Turkey in the fictional "Armenian genocide" issue, Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Hulusi Kilich said.

"Slander towards Turkey is also directed against Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan's support to Turkey in this issue makes us very happy. This shows that our countries are two states and one nation. I thank our Azerbaijani brothers for events organized by them in various corners of the world in these days," Turkish ambassador to Azerbaijan Hulusi Kilic said at a conference on "Visible and hidden sides of the fictional history" organized by the Azerbaijan Association of Women Journalists and the Trend News Agency.

Armenia and the Armenian lobby state that the predecessor of Turkey - the Ottoman empire committed "genocide" against Armenians living in Anatolia in 1915. Armenians willing to recognize this fact in the world by strengthening propaganda of the so-called "genocide" in the world countries achieved its recognition by the parliaments of some countries.

According to Kilich, the events in 1915 should be studied by historians.

"During the First World War other minorities, including Jews resided in the Ottoman Empire's territories. Why don't they have such problems as the Armenians?" he stressed.

"We suggested creating commission of historians in connection with 1915 events in order to achieve historical justice. However, the Armenian side has not given its consent so far. We must bring these false claims concerning the "genocide" to the international community's attention. We stand for studying this issue by historians," Kilich said.

According to Kilich, political decisions, which were taken in this regard in several countries' parliaments, are "ridiculous." The media should prevent the further spread of false interpretation of historical facts.

"If the world community wants to give a legal assessment of historical events, they need to pay attention to the Khojali genocide. There are undeniable facts on this tragedy," the ambassador underscored.

According to the head of the Institute of Oriental Studies of Azerbaijan's National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) MP Govhar Bakhshaliyeva, the institute's researches revealed the facts, which indicate that no genocide against the Armenians committed in 1915.

On the contrary, genocide was committed against Turks and Azerbaijanis by Armenians, Bakhshaliyeva said.

"All archives should be opened and all the documents should be studied in order to prove the fictitious claims regarding with the "Armenian genocide" once again," she said.

According to Bakhshaliyeva, along with Turkey, all the Turkish states should hold joint activities to proof groundless claims regarding the "Armenian genocide".

"Armenians killed hundreds of thousands of Azerbaijanis in the Southern and the Northern Azerbaijan in different periods. All these are historical facts. Turks are now faced with a moral terror by the Armenians, who shamelessly falsify our facts proving their fictitious claims on the "genocide"," she stressed.

According to the head of the Azerbaijan's Association of Women Journalists Sevil Yusifova, the conference aims at informing the public with the serious facts, scientific researches in connection with Armenians' claims for the fictional "genocide", which they raise on the eve of April 24.

This meeting targets to demonstrate the permanence of brotherhood between Turkey and Azerbaijan, to identify the essence of the crimes committed by Armenians in the last century, and to bring the truth to the international community, to achieve cooperation between representatives of science and the media in the study of historical facts.
