The Caspian littoral countries have agreed on basic principles for security cooperation in the Caspian Sea.

"We succeeded to reach agreement on all basic principles of security cooperation in the Caspian Sea and during the third meeting we will determine the list of agencies that will be involved in this cooperation," Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Khalaf Khalafov said at a briefing after the 23rd meeting of deputy foreign ministers of the Caspian littoral countries, held March.11-12 in Baku.
"The Caspian littoral countries are ready to cooperate in the field of security," Khalafov said.
After several meetings, we can fully come to an agreement and proceed with realization of this work, Khalafov said.
The most important thing is to design a cooperation mechanism so that ongoing security work could proceed in a particular system, Khalafov said.
