Azerbaijani ruling party: EU keen on peace in southern Caucasus

As Europe's most influential organization, the European Union is interested in ensuring peace and security in the Southern Caucasus, Secretary General of New Azerbaijan Party and member of the Parliament, Ali Ahmadov said,.

“Azerbaijan is a part of Europe. Conflicts in the Caucasian region in particular, the Nagorno-Karabakh problem directly impacts on security of Europe,” he said.

“Therefore, ensuring stability in the region is one of the urgent issues on EU`s agenda. I think the EU has a tool of influence for resolution of conflicts in the region,” he noted.

“The OSCE Minsk Group is engaged in settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Majority of the countries in the Group are members of EU. I think, if EU member-countries wish, the conflict can be solved soon,” Ahmadov said.
