Azerbaijani ombudsman presents report on outcomes of 2009 to president and parliament

The Azerbaijani Ombudsman presented a report to the president and the Parliament of Azerbaijan on outcomes of 2009.
2009 Annual Report on the situation of safeguarding and protecting human rights and freedoms in Azerbaijan was submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers, the Constitutional Court, Supreme Court and the Prosecutor General in the order specified in the Constitution, the Ombudsman's office said.

The report, which will be heard at a parliamentary meeting, will be published in the 'Assembly of legislative acts of Azerbaijan Republic' and the country's media for public.

The annual report reflects the restoration of human rights and freedoms specified in the Azerbaijani Constitution and international treaties to which our country joined, violated by government bodies and local authorities, human rights and prevent violations, as well as study of human rights situation, the outcome of work on legal education and scientific and analytical work, the ombudsman's cooperation with governmental institutions, public and media.

It also covers issues of international relations, proposals and recommendations of the commissioner for human rights in connection with more reliable access to rights and freedoms.

The annual report will be heard at a parliamentary meeting.
