“There have not been major and long-lasting shooting on the contact line for a along time,” Azerbaijani Member of Parliament Zahid Oruj said.

He was commenting on recent shooting on the contact line of Azerbaijani and Armenian troops which killed three Azerbaijani soldiers.
“The lastest such violation of the ceasefire occurred in March 2009. Back then, experts linked it to intensification of the negotiation process and Armenia's attempts to impose its views by force, as well as show "force" of the Armenia army to Azerbaijan,” the MP said.
“But I think this recent major violation of ceasefire is linked with a different factor. We should not forget that civilians who will be provided with privileged conditions and measures will be taken to improve quality of their lives at the presidential order live in the war zone. Attack of the Armenian army is aimed at preventing development of infrastructure, as well as improving quality of life for front-line zone. Yerevan is afraid of settling this territory, as the territory it had occupied is almost uninhabited.”
“The number of Armenian population that live in Azerbaijan’s occupied lands is less than population of the former Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Region in 1989," the MP noted. .
"This shooting is part of psychological warfare conducted by Armenia against Azerbaijan. The victims of the shooting is a signal to world powers how the peace in our region is fragile and it will remain so until Azerbaijan’s occupied lands are liberated,” he added.
We share grief of the parents and relatives of the victims. Azerbaijani soldiers once again showed their resilience, and if necessary, will be able to liberate the occupied Armenian lands.”
“Armenia’s violation of the ceasefire should be given a harsh reaction. We also need to inform the world community of this flagrant violations of the ceasefire. Yerevan should be aware that we can not guarantee Armenia’s security till shed blood stops on the front line,” the MP Oruj said.
