CIS observers have revealed no breaches in preparation for municipal elections in Azerbaijan.

The Baku branch of the International Institute for Monitoring of Democracy, Parliamenrtarism and Citizens’ Election Rights of the the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly Council’s Secretariat has issued statement on preparations for municipal elections in Azerbaijan.
The statement says that the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly’s observation mission revealed no grave violations in election process.
“No breaches were revealed in election commissions where we conducted observation" the statement said.
The branch’s officials visited Azerbaijani cities Ganja, Sumgait and Absheron, Shemakha, Oguz and Shamkir regions to familiarize themselves with election commissions’ activities.
“Following the monitoring it was confirmed that activities of divisional and district election commissions conforms to calendar plan adopted by the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan,” the statement says.
Trainings are conducted regularly for members of divisional and district election commissions.
The candidates are given out subscription lists and then workgroups check authenticity of signatures in the lists.
Municipal elections are scheduled for Dec. 23.
