PACE Monitoring Committee appoints new co-rapporteur on Azerbaijan

Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) Monitoring Committee appointed Maltese parliamentarian Joseph Debono Grech a new co-rapporteur on Azerbaijan, said head of Azerbaijani delegation to PACE Samed Seyidov, who is attending Monitoring Committee’s meeting in Paris.

“The Committee held preliminary hearing on the co-rapporteur appointment and then put it to vote. Joseph Debono Grech was appointed the co-rapporteur with 18 votes leaving behind other candidate - Norway’s Lise Christoffersen nominated by socialist group represented by Andreas Gross. Christoffersen gained 12 votes”.

Previous co-rapporteur Eugenia Zhivkova will not contest parliamentarian elections in Bulgaria this year, Seyidov said.
