Azerbaijan’s ruling New Azerbaijan Party has convened due to preparations for the municipal election campaign, member of Azerbaijani parliament and member of the NAP Political Council Eldar Ibrahimov said.
“Once the election campaign begins, I will participate in meetings with the NAP candidates nominated for municipal elections,” he said.
Unlike previous municipal elections held in 2004, more women and youth candidates will contest elections this year, he said.
“This is a very positive factor,” he added.
“The interest in municipal elections is constantly increasing. With each elections more people want to participate in the elections, win and become members and chairmen of municipalities,” he noted.
Azerbaijan will hold municipal elections on Dec. 23.
