"The U.S. is interested in both the Nagorno-Karabakh and Turkey-Armenia negotiation processes," U.S. congressman, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Europe and a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee Robert Wexler.
Speaking of the influence of Armenia-Turkey’s normalization on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict Wexler said “I believe that the Turkey-Armenia ties normalization will encourage these countries to show their will in solving other regional problems."
Wexler said once basic problems in South Caucasus are solved, the regions importance as energy supplier and a number other sphere will increase.
The U.S. congressman last month paid an official visit to Turkey, where he discussed Nabucco project and other issues with the leaders of the country.
Wexler reminded that both the U.S. and Turkey share a common energy policy towards their partners in the region.
“Azerbaijan is playing an important role in those terms”.
Congressman also stressed that the U.S. doesn’t see the Nabucco and South Stream Projects as rivals.
