Chargé d’affaires of Norwegian embassy in Azerbaijan Lars Hansen and Chargé d’affaires of German embassy in Azerbaijan Peter Zigler were invited to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry on Nov. 16, the ministry said.

They met with Deputy Foreign Minister Vagif Sadigov.

The meeting focused on statements issued by Norwegian embassy in Azerbaijan on Nov. 11 and press release issued by German embassy in Azerbaijan on Nov. 12 concerning the decision by Sabail district court on Emin Abdullayev and Adnan Hajizadeh.

Sadigov told the diplomats that Azerbaijan was surprised and regretted about the statements issued by the embassies.

It was noted that the court hearing had been held in accordance with the legislation and procedural rules of Azerbaijan Republic, the transparency of the court’s activity was ensured and all conditions had been created to cover it in media.

Sadigov said the views expressed in the embassies’ documents were completely groundless, contradicted level of relations between the two countries and could affect development of the relations describing the statements as an attempt to interfere in internal affairs of Azerbaijan.
