Russia's joining OIC was wisest step in history of Russia's modern diplomacy: ambassador

“Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs believes that joining the Organization of the Islamic Conference was the most important step by Russia's modern diplomacy”, Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan Vladimir Dorokhin said.

Russia, which has 30-50 million of Muslim population according to statistics, must participate in OIC, he said.

"I am happy that we appreciated this reality and received observer status. We can think about rising this status in future," the ambassador said.
