“Our candidates are nominated for the municipal elections in an individual manner,” Azerbaijan’s Taraggi Party Chairman Chingiz Damirchioglu said.
“We have given complete freedom to party members. We are conducting an experiment. Once the results are positive, we will make use of this principle in the parliamentary elections as well. This is a democratic decision,” he added.

“The number of candidates from our party who will be nominated individually will be defined later,” Demiroglu said.

Azerbaijan will hold municipal elections on Dec. 23. Elections will be held for 15, 682 places in the 1, 718 municipalities. All voters besides those with the status of internally displaced persons are illegible to participate in the municipal elections. Voting will take place in 118 constituencies.

Those who nominate themselves as candidates must submit signatures of voters to the election commissions no later than Nov. 13.

Lists with signatures received after this date will not be accepted.

According to the schedule, the registration of observers in the CEC will continue until Dec. 13 and in the district electoral commissions - untill Dec. 18.
