Moscow and All Russian Patriarch Cyril called on the Orthodox Christians in Azerbaijan to value their good relations with the Muslims.

During the cathedral sermon in Baku, Cyril said there are multiple problems ahead of the people of new period.
“The people should visit churches to hear the God’s reaction to their prayers. But it is not enough to visit the church to be Orthodox. The people have to pass on their religious faiths to their children and grandchildren to save the God’s rules in their hearts. If the human’s spirit is dead, it means there is no humanity”.
Patriarch said despite small Orthodox community in Azerbaijan, the Orthodox faith has been preserved in the country for 2,000 years since the period of Bartholomew, heavenly protector of Baku.
After the sermon, the patriarch presented a decorative rood to the Baku and Caspian Eparchy bishop Alexander and Jesus icon to the cathedral.
Minsk and Slutsk mitropolit Filaret, representative of the Constantinople patriarchate, Gall mitropolit Emmanuel and other religious figures and nearly 500 participants attended the ceremony.
