Azerbaijani foreign ministry responds to Armenian FM’s statement

29 October 2009 [16:38] - TODAY.AZ
Armenia has created a situation which impedes cooperation with this country by its policy of occupation of Azerbaijani territories, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Elkhan Polukhov said in response to Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan’s statement claiming that “Azerbaijan took a stance that excludes cooperation with Armenia under Eastern Partnership.”

“European partners from Eastern Partnership should assess Azerbaijan's refusal to cooperate with Armenia as part of the this initiative,” Nalbandyan said.

"Policy of the Armenian side aimed at seizing territories of a sovereign state led to a situation in which Azerbaijan sees no possibility to cooperate with the country which still holds 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s territories. Azerbaijan does not allow Armenia’s participation in regional projects, in which it participates,” Polukhov added.

"Even Armenia president also confirms occupation of Azerbaijan’s territories. He had talked about this in his speeches. He has also participated in both ethnic cleansing and seizure of Azerbaijani territories,” he said.
