Iran sets up maritime defense command on Caspian Sea

Iranian General Staff of Armed Forces decided to create North Command of Maritime Defense on the Caspian Sea by late 2009, commander of Iranian police, general Ismail Ahmadi-Muqaddam, said, Mehr agency reported.

"Command of maritime defense will unite defense of three provinces situated north of Iran. The command will be established in each province," Muqaddam said in Iranian city of Rasht on Oct. 15.
