Azerbaijan expects result from presidents’ upcoming meeting: political expert

06 October 2009 [15:22] - TODAY.AZ
“It seems that Azerbaijan expects results from the presidents’ upcoming meeting in a constructive manner,” Azerbaijani political expert Rasim Musabayov said commenting on media reports that the next meeting between Azerbaijani and Armenian Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Serzh Sargsyan will take place in Chisinau.
“Serzh Sargsyan faces more complicated situation. He has a second quite risky game in his hands - Armenian-Turkish. It also raises serious tension in the Armenian society,” Musabayov said.

"I do not rule out that the internal political situation in Armenia can make Serzh Sargsyan withhold a break. But, in fact, as I understand it, it is difficult to get something new from the Madrid principles,” he said.

"In the best option after the Chisinau meeting the presidents say will to media and declare that they support those existing principles and instruct the foreign ministers and co-chairs of OSCE Minsk Group to begin work on a basic agreement to be signed,” he added.

"At worst, they can say that their positions have come even closer, but they need some time to make a final decision,” Musabayov said.
