President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev arrived in Azerbaijan for an official visit on Oct. 2.
Oct. 310:37On Oct. 2, upon completion of the ceremony of signing Azerbaijani-Kazakh documents Presidents Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan made media statements.
Greeting the Kazakh counterpart in the Azerbaijani language, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said:
“I warmly welcome you in Azerbaijan. I am very glad to see you again and I am glad that today’s talks were very fruitful. The agenda of our relations is very large, it covers many areas and we have much to be proud of in all fields.
Political relations are at a very high level. Despite the economic crisis and decline in turnover to some extent, the practice of previous years suggests that economic relations have developed rapidly. This is a temporary drop. I am confident that it will be soon overcome. Especially given the projects that we have identified and are reflected in the documents signed today, primarily in the energy sector, I am sure that level of bilateral trade between our two countries will increase significantly soon.
In terms of energy we are allies, we are neighbors in the Caspian Sea, and there is great potential for the development of relations in this sphere. I'm sure that what was signed today is only the beginning of a long path. Although I must say that even today we have good results. Oil from Kazakhstan is transported through our country to world markets in different ways - by rail and via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline. Further launch of new pipelines and other transport facilities in Azerbaijan will lead to greater integration between our countries.
There are good prospects in the area of transportation. I am confident that upon completion of construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway our friends in Kazakhstan will also be able to use this railroad. This road will connect, in a large sense, Europe and Asia.
Today we have identified concrete ways to develop relations in agriculture. Increase in turnover in this area is also of great importance and great potential.
I am confident that the day will also be very efficient for the members of the delegation and they will outline ways to further develop our relations.
I am very grateful to you, Nursultan Nazarbayev, for your efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between our countries, as well as to create an enabling environment for effective regional cooperation in the Caspian Sea and in the Caucasus region, to strengthen security and mutual trust. I thank you again for what accepting our invitation and your visit and to wish success to you and your entire delegation.”
