Azerbaijani president inaugurates new building for parliament of Azerbaijan

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev inaugurated a new building for the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan (Parliament) on Sept. 25.
The Head of State and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva were welcomed by the Milli Majlis leadership.

President Ilham Aliyev cut the ribbon symbolizing official opening of the new building.

The foundation stone of the new building was laid on November 3, 2007. In accordance with Azerbaijani leader`s instruction, the 15-storey building was built ahead of schedule.

The building was designed by the Azerdovletlayihe Institute and built by local specialists. The total area of the building is 1,365 sq meters. The interior and external appearance of the building meets high standards.

The building will house a huge library.

The new building is the second to none not only in the CIS area but also in some developed countries.

President Ilham Aliyev was presented with the Milli Majlis`s Honorary Medal for exceptional contribution to strengthening interparliamentary ties and developing parliamentarism.

MP, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva was awarded the Milli Majlis`s Honorary Medal for her contribution to strengthening interparliamentary ties and developing parliamentarism.

President Aliyev praised the conditions created here for MPs and wished every success to the parliament of Azerbaijan.
