Program of support to Azerbaijani parliament presented

Vice Speaker of the parliament Valeh Alasgarov informed the lawmakers about the project.

The project is carried out within the European Neighborhood Policy plan between EU and Azerbaijan to promote democracy and supremacy of law in Azerbaijan.

Alasgarov said the project would facilitate integration into the European institutions.

Lithuania presents the European Union in this project. Vice Speaker of the Lithuanian Sejm Chaslovas Stankevichus said there were many points that connected Azerbaijan and Lithuania.

“Lithuania is a member of the European Union and has built its legislation according to the European standards. We will support Azerbaijan to align its legislation with the European standards”.

Chief of the Parliament’s staff Safa Mirzayev said the project started to be carried out this month and series of events will be held within the project in the next two years.

The project’s budget is ?950 000.
