On September 24, Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal met with the EU ambassadors accredited in Ankara, CNN Turk reported.

Turkey-European Union, Turkey-Armenia relations, the Kurdish plan of the authorities and other issues were discussed at the meeting.
Deniz Baykal said he supports respect for ethnic background in Turkey, but does not want the national unity to be damaged.
He said some try to stir up national and ethnic confrontation in Turkey under the pretext of the solution of Kurdish problem.
Baykal said democracy did not improve in Turkey after Justice and Development (AKP) Party came to power, as an example he showed $2.5 billion fine imposed on Dogan Media Holding.
Touching on Turkey-Armenia relations, Baykal said Ankara should not open the borders unless Armenia frees occupied Azerbaijani territories.
He said Azerbaijan is an important country not only for Turkey but also for the European Union.
