Turkmen president pardons hundreds of prisoners

Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov signed a decree on "Amnesty for Prisoners" in honor of one of the most respected and sacred nights of holy month of Ramadan to all Muslims - Kadir Gecesi (Night of Omnipotence).
Under the decree, about 1,284 inculuding 21 foreigners will be released.

While signing the decree, Berdimuhammedov noted "another amnesty is a tribute to humane traditions of ancestry."

The president instructed corresponding officials to take all measures sop that the pardoned could celebrate the holiday at their homes", the national TV channel Altyn Asir reported.

"The Turkmen state will continue to pay special attention to strengthen legality in Turkmenistan, develop and improve material-technical base of law enforcement agencies", Berdimuhamedov said at a governmental meeting.
