Former head of Igdyr municipality: No peace without Karabakh

“The only ‘trump card’ of Turkey is the closure of borders. If the borders with Armenia reopen before the occupied Azerbaijani territories are freed, it will mean surrender to the aggressive Armenian intellect. We will not recognize legitimacy of any agreement, discussion or protocol serving the aggressive intellect,” he said.

Nurettin Aras said Armenia “capricious child of the West” will never be able to live in peace and stability for a long time.

Armenia supported by the West should understand that it has to live in peace with neighbor nations to bring stability to the region instead of aggressive actions. It is inevitable for Armenian leadership to understand this reality and to take actions"

"Armenia must withdraw from the occupied territories immediately and without pre-conditions so that it will be able to make contribution to stability. We, as population of the region, who had suffered many troubles, concerned with the ongoing processes. It is unacceptable that Armenia says Nagorno Karabakh is not a subject of discussions while Turkey makes efforts to normalize relations. There is no peace without Karabakh. Such approach can not bring stability to the region," Aras said.

“No one can harm our Azerbaijani brothers. Karabakh is under occupation for 17 years. More than one million Azerbaijanis live as refugees. We will not accept any agreement not signed by Azerbaijan and our Azerbaijani brothers. We are seriously concerned about the statements on Turkey-Armenia relations. The agreement with Armenia was achieved completely under interests of the West," he said.

"This agreement will not bring advantages for Turkey, including Igdir province. I would like to repeat once again that our citizens will not accept any agreement without consent of Azerbaijan," he added.
