"There are plans only to train and equip the Georgian battalion which will serve in Afghanistan," U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Matthew Bryza said at a news conference in Tbilisi.
“Of course, we appreciate the decision to send one battalion to Afghanistan and will help this battalion in terms of training and equipping. We are not going to supply weapons to Georgia,” Bryza said.
He said the leadership of the United States supports not a specific person in Georgia, but entire nation.
“We support Georgia and the formation and development of a democratic system in the country,” he said.
