Azerbaijan's human rights defender meets with interior minister

Chief of Azerbaijani Committee against Torture Elchin Behbudov met with Interior Minister Ramil Usubov.
The meeting focused on state of human rights in the country and investigation of torture facts. The human rights defender said he asked the minister to help release Adnan Hajizadeh and Emin Milli.

“The minister said he gave instruction to carry out impartial investigation of their case,” he said.

Behbudov noted that Ramil Usubov said facts of torture are being investigated.

“The minister also said the police officers disrespecting human rights are punished and even dismissed,” he said.

The human rights defender said he is satisfied with the meeting.

The cooperation between Interior Ministry and the committee against torture will continue, he said.
