Head of Azerbaijani public organization says no need for opposition unification

31 July 2009 [10:23] - TODAY.AZ
Head of Azerbaijani oppositional public organization sees no necessity in launching of a new union of political forces.
"At present, major task is not to unite leading political parties but increase activity of society," head of the Forum for Azerbaijan public organization Eldar Namazov said.

Earlier chief of the Musavat party Isa Gambar proposed to resume Azerbaijani People's Fund and unite all opposition forces in this organization. Chairman of Classic People's Front party Mirmahmud Miralioglu also initiated to establish National Resistance Movement earlier last week.

Namazov said the opposition must do its best to increase role of youth in public and political sphere. "We must attract broader social layers to make society more active. I think that political parties should deal with above-mentioned instead of launching new organizations. I do my best with this regard," head of the forum said.

He said that opposition has failed to unite in the united organization for a long time. "Reasons are obvious. Political forces must agree with each other. All understand it. But if there is any progress, some people try to hamper it. Unification of opposition is unreal," Namazov said.
