“Each meeting between Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents marks a small step forward."

Political expert Fikrat Sadigov said in his comments on results of the Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents’ Moscow meeting on peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
“In principle, the parties are finding ways to compromise, but Armenia requires Azerbaijan more compromises which is unfair. In this situation, everything depends on bargaining which Armenia started. Armenia understands that clouds have thickened over Yerevan and the specific steps are required for the return of the seven occupied Azerbaijani regions. So the panic started in the country,” he said.
“Realizing that seven occupied regions of Azerbaijan will be returned sooner or later, Armenia wants to gain advantages as much as possible. That is, discussing issue of opening borders with Turkey and resolving status of Nagorno Karabakh will be to decided as a part of participation in the projects that will take place in the South Caucasus,” he said.
“I think that the process of rapproachement will continue. The very fact of the geopolitical importance of Azerbaijan will have an impact on Armenia, because Armenia is in a complex and distressed situation. And, sooner or later, the return of the seven regions and deployment of a peacekeeping force will be solved finally,” Sadigov said.
